Brides Against Breast Cancer (BABC) was formed in 1997 and in 2017 was relaunched as a charity-based social enterprise company (SEC). BABC is located in Atlanta and it’s charity partners are in Georgia and nationwide. The new management team is very experienced which is especially important in an intensive logistical business. The new CEO actually became involved after his wife bought her dress and volunteered for BABC.
Examples of SECs include Tom’s Shoes, Life is Good, Beauty Counter, etc… Typically SECs give about 10% of their profits as well as free promotional support to their core causes. Consumers like this refreshing approach because many large corporations donate only 1-2% of their profits to charity. BABC gives 50% of its profits to charity.
